"You don't need to be “artistic”.
- Block printing on fabric can feel intimidating at first. Even experienced linocut artists can have trouble getting consistent results on cotton, linen, and clothing. I know because I've gone through the same learning process myself.
- Printing takes practice, and every print teaches you something. Some days everything works perfectly. Other days the ink has other plans. That's part of the process. Give yourself room to experiment, make mistakes, and enjoy it.
- Over the years, I've carved a lot of blocks, printed on countless pieces of fabric, ruined more than a few tea towels, and learned what actually works. In this course, I'll share those lessons with you so you can spend less time troubleshooting and more time enjoying the craft.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Hello! I’m Maude Forbid
I am a lifelong artist with education and practice in several mediums: drawing, painting, multimedia & collage, ceramics, and printmaking. Throughout my long and winding journey in the arts, I found printmaking to be the most wonderful, satisfying, and therapeutic artform. I love how printmaking presents so many opportunities for our personality and individual style to come through. My favorite part of block printing is that it encourages me to create in a slow, intentional way, and I savor all of the moments I find myself immersed in each stage of the process.
Printing on fabric is special, but also presents some frustrating challenges without the right guidance! If you already have some printing experience or if you are just starting on your printmaking journey, I would love to share tips and tricks to help shorten the learning curve for you. By the end of this course you will be able to get perfect, beautiful, and reliable prints on fabric. I look forward to printing with you!
